You can, quite simply, help save the life of a child and give them the gift of life. Children living with Congenital Heart Disease do not have time to spare; their life is ticking away. Your donations of time, money or both will help save the life of a child. You can be a part of the team to save a child's life as a sponsor, a host, a translator, or general volunteer!

Sponsor a Child!

Sponsors are the wonderful people, clubs, organizations, churches, businesses, and corporations that decide to save the life of a child through the Gift of Life program.

Sponsors can enjoy the heartwarming experience of meeting and spending time with the child who’s life they have saved. They can even have the option as acting as the child’s host family before and after medical care. Those who choose to sponsor a surgery abroad will receive a portfolio about their child include photos, brief medical report, and letters from the child’s family. They also will be given the opportunity to communicate to the family through the GOL Foundation.

• LIFE SPONSORSHIP - $6,000.
The most needy children will be operated on in the U.S receive this kind of sponsorship. It provides for all cardiac medical costs on behalf of the child during their stay in the U.S. Sponsor will have the option to be or choose the host family for the child. Regardless of hosting arrangement, the sponsor will be able to visit and meet the child before, during and after medical care.

• YOUTH LIFE SPONSORSHIP - $3,000.
This donation is matched by a corporate grant received by the GOL Foundation, earmarked solely for matching grant purposes to youth groups in order to equal the full cost of care. Includes all the same benefits as full sponsorship, this program is only available to youth groups or organizations, including but not limited to Interact, ReAct, Rotaract Clubs.

• ABROAD SPONSORSHIP - $3,000.
For half the cost of a Life Sponsorship, anyone can sponsor one of our surgeries that will be performed in a cooperating hospital in the Philippines, France, China, or the Ukraine (the list of participating countries is growing every year). Medical expenses are much less in these countries, but only children with less complex heart defects can have them corrected in their home countries. The cost to sponsor a child in full is currently $6,000; a rather small price to pay to save a life. Donations of $25 to $500 are great as a memorial or honorarium to someone you love, and will include an acknowledgement of the donation provided at your instruction. Larger corporate sponsorships are needed for our medical missions, and special events.

Host a GOL Child!

Gift of Life Host Families provide the child and their mother or guardian a home away from home and family support during this trying time in their life.

Host Families are part of a dynamic worldwide community of Rotarian and non-Rotarian families, dedicated to the service of assisting the children of the world who are in need of corrective heart surgery. Host families provide housing and meals to the child and mother before and after the hospital stay. Most children stay with their host family for about 4-6 weeks. However, each child is different and has different health situations. Some stays may be shorter, or may be considerably longer. All that is required to become a GOL host family is an extra bedroom, a non-smoking household, and lots of love!

Other volunteer opportunities include translation, transportation, or the donation of other non-monetary items such as car seats, strollers, high chairs, toys, large suitcases and duffel bags. Talk to your Re-Act, Interact, or Rotaract Club, religious organization, corporation, family and friends about the Gift of Life Foundation. It is a wonderful project for all to get involved in!
